WELCOME TO 2023 FIDA AFRICA REGIONAL CONGRESS!!!
I consider it a great honour and privilege to welcome this distinguished audience to the 2023 International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Africa Regional Congress, holding here in Abuja, Nigeria. The Africa Regional Congress is a triennial event which usually offers a significant opportunity for us FIDA members to converge, interact, exchange information, and share lessons. We also get to learn new strategies that will help us in actualizing our mission and continue with our campaigns as well as various activities geared towards improving the status and overall well-being of women and children in the Continent.
Mission
To connect, collaborate, support, and engage FIDA members across Africa to promote, protect, and preserve the rights, interests, and wellbeing of women and children in our societies. To be a voice for women and children.
Vision
Building a strong and egalitarian society where members including women and children live peacefully and free from all forms of discrimination and violence.
Activities
FIDA Africa realizes her objectives through the enormous work done by the various Country Branches.
- Promoting the rights of women and girls
- Spearheading legislative advocacy initiatives that generate women and child-friendly policies and laws.
- Accelerating awareness of issues that affect the vulnerable populations in Africa
- Providing pro bono legal services including ADR mechanisms to indigent women and other vulnerable individuals
- Partnering with governmental, institutional and international organizations/ donors to meet United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
